MJ Peterson Continues Steady Growth in Business

Company president attributes success to diverse offerings and teamwork

AMHERST, NY - As his company celebrates its 86th year in business, Victor L. Peterson III, President of MJ Peterson, said that his business increased in 2015 and that diversification remains the strongest asset.

Peterson made his remarks during the State of the Company address at their 32nd Annual Awards Ceremony held earlier this month at the Park Country Club in Williamsville.

He said his multi-generational business continues to grow, with a market share of almost nine percent and closed sales finishing with a five percent increase.

Peterson remarked that his company’s brokerage division had 34 sales production award winners. In addition, the company continues to increase their rental portfolio with 32 new units at Deer Lakes Apartments and 16 proposed units at Stonington Park Apartments; both complexes are located in Amherst near the University at Buffalo north campus.

MJ Peterson’s land development group recently received final approval for Harris Hill Commons, a 67-lot subdivision in Clarence featuring abundant green space and large building lots.

Peterson attributes much of the success not only to the company’s diverse offerings, but also to a strong management team, steadfast family ownership, and an unprecedented spirit of teamwork across all areas of the business.

Several sales associates and employees were acknowledged for individual achievement at the ceremony: Susan Lenahan was recognized as top agent for the ninth consecutive year. Lenahan closed over $23 million in residential sales in 2015. She has been the top Buffalo city agent for more than 17 years.

The Olear Team, led by Michael Olear in Tonawanda, was awarded the 2015 top team with over $14 million in sales.

Ronald “Gunner” Tronolone was awarded the top commercial agent based on units and volume in 2015, with almost $10 million in sales.

Tonawanda resident Bruce Best was named 2015 Employee of the Year. A former employee of MJ Peterson in 1977, Best returned to the company in 2013. As the corporate maintenance superintendant, Best manages a crew of seven technicians and is responsible for the maintenance of 300+ rental units. When Peterson announced the award, he commented that Best is “responsive, conscientious, and detail oriented. He looks after our properties as if they were his own.”

Peterson concluded his address by saying, “Let’s continue the momentum with the housing recovery, and have an even better 2016.”

MJ Peterson, founded in 1930, is a family-owned and operated full service real estate company, with numerous rental units, more than 300 sales associates and employees, 6 residential offices, and 1 commercial office in the Buffalo-Niagara marketplace.
