Relief Fund: Hurricane Sandy Expected to Cause Billions in Damage
Hurricane Sandy — a massive storm that has impacted more than 50
million people — slammed into the East Coast late Monday, ripping down
trees and causing unprecedented amounts of damage. Recovery efforts
begin today.
The storm, which is expected to cause $67 billion in damages, is forecasted to spread across 10 states and the District of Columbia. Unfortunately, its destruction could affect numerous RE/MAX Offices and Affiliates — not to mention, potentially destroy buildings and homes.

"As this storm continues to cripple the day-to-day activity on the East Coast, it’s important we keep not only our RE/MAX family members in our thoughts and prayers, but also all evacuees and emergency personnel," said Mike Reagan, President, RE/MAX Relief Fund. "We encourage you to think about those families now struggling through this natural diaster and appreciate your support of the Relief Fund. Now, more than ever, is a great time to make a donation so we can be ready to respond."
After hitting land at about 8 p.m. Monday, Sandy, which was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, still brought 65 mile per hour winds as it heads north toward Canada.
Several deaths tied to the storm have already been reported. High winds have resulted in falling tree limbs, with some sparking fires in the New York region. As of today, millions across the East Coast remain without power and are dealing with mass flooding.
Regional teams at RE/MAX World Headquarters will be working to keep in touch with any displaced Affiliates. If anyone needs assistance or has information about someone who does, please call (303) 770-5531.
Since its inception, the Relief Fund has raised $1.6 million and disbursed more than $1.4 million to Affiliates who have faced natural disaster and civil crisis.
